Same-Sex Engagement Session in East Nashville Greenhouse & Shelby Bottoms Park | Allison & Bryn

Bryn and Allison’s engagement session in early April was full of joy, laughter, and so many special details. They each proposed to one another—yes, separately—which made their story even more memorable. Both are wearing custom rings by Consider the Wildflowers, adding meaningful and personal touches to their photos.

We explored two East Nashville locations: East Nashville Greenhouse with bright, airy spaces and the open paths of Shelby Bottoms Park. The session was timed for golden hour, giving the early spring light a warm, glowing quality.

Documenting this engagement feels especially exciting because I’ll be photographing their wedding next week! Bryn and Allison’s connection, playfulness, and care for each other shine through in every image.

Dog Friendly Nashville Engagement Photography - Celine and Mike

It’s time for your engagement session and it just doesn’t seem right to not include the baby of your soon to be family, your dog. Non dog people just don’t understand your obsession with your pet. They just don’t get it. It’s not like it’s a child, but what non dog people don’t understand is that it is your child. Your dog has 15 different variations to their name. Some names cannot even be traced back to her original name. Your phone has 1000 photos on it and 800 of those are of your dog doing something adorable. Most often they are sleeping. Do you know who understands your dog obsession? I do. Our dogs were in our engagement announcement and I say bring your dog to your engagement session. Maybe have a friend be in charge of bringing your dog and we can do handful of photos with them and the friend will then take them back home. Or they can be in every single photo. No judgement here.

Here is an engagement session with Daisy and her people, Celine and Mike. Daisy was there for the whole session but we opted to only include her in some of the photographs. Besides having Daisy there the standout part of the session was when Mike proposed to Celine again. Celine and Mike were married privately in 2021 during all the COVID craziness and he bought her a more permanent ring which he surprised her with at the session. I photographed their big wedding celebration soon after we took these photos. These engagement photos were taken at Ellington Agricultural Center in Nashville. I’m so excited because I get to photograph Celine’s non dog baby’s maternity photos this weekend!

Cheekwood Engagement Photography Session - Allie and Cole

Allie and Cole were my last wedding of 2023, but I fell in love with them at their engagement session months before. I will be posting photographs from their wedding in the next few weeks, but for now you’ll just have to enjoy their adorableness in their engagement photographs.

An engagement session is the best way to get to know your photographer and for your photographer to get to know you. It’s uninterrupted time for me to learn your personalities, insecurities, and communications styles that I will not get on your wedding day. Bonus you’ll get to learn how awkward and not cool I am. Generally there is not the same amount of time set aside for portraits on a wedding day that we have during an engagement session. It’s also great to have photographs together that aren’t in your wedding attire!

Spring Centennial Park Engagement Photography - Shalagh and Justin

Shalagh and Justin live in Nashville but were planning a destination wedding in another state. They decided that they wanted to do their engagement session where their home is and asked me to photograph it. We had so much taking photos around Centennial Park and I’m sure their winter wedding was absolutely stunning!

Sylvan Park Engagement Photography - Maisie and Bryan

I so enjoyed working with Maisie and Bryan during their engagement session. We photographed around the neighborhood that Maisie grew up in and in McCabe Park in Nashville. Fall Crockett Park Engagement Photography - Dawn and David

I’ve been trying to catch up on posting all of my engagement photography when I came across this adorable family. When we first photographed Dawn and David’s engagement session as you’ll see from the sign around Olaf’s neck, their wedding was supposed to be 5/20. They were one of the many couples that had to reschedule because of Covid and their wedding didn’t take place until the fall of 2021. It ended up taking on a different shape than what they had planned but all of the most important players were still there, including Olaf, and it was an incredible day. Before this endless oppressive summer heat started, Barrett and Garrett (the couple with the best name combination) and I photographed their engagement session at Percy Warner Park. These two are just the sweetest and I really enjoyed spending the evening with them!

Nashville Engagement Session - Jacquelyn and Anthony

My first wedding of the year is coming up and it’s a good one- Jacquelyn and Anthony. Here are some images from their engagement session! I knew that they loved being on the lake so we decided to photograph their session at Walton Ferry Arboretum in Hendersonville, TN. I love a location that offers a lot of variety and Walton Ferry does that. It’s always a huge bonus when a couple brings their dog with for their photographs and Barkley the golden doodle was pretty stinking adorable! Brentwood Engagement Session - Taylor and Peter

Taylor and Peter were another one of my pandemic clients that had to reschedule their wedding. Unfortunately I was booked for another wedding on their new date and was not able to photograph their wedding but I did get to spend an afternoon with them shooting their engagement session! I had so much fun photographing them around the grounds of Ravenswood Mansion and Marcella Vivrette Smith Park!   

Downtown Spring Engagement Session - Mary and Kevin

Mary and Kevin and I had too much fun during their engagement session. They wanted to combine nature and downtown Nashville so we decided to photograph some of their session at Centennial Park and the rest downtown near their condo. Other than the photo of Mary giving Kevin a piggyback ride, I think my favorite images that day were the ones that we took inside their condo. Italian Garden Engagement Session - Elaina & Taylor

Newfoundland Engagement Session - Sarah & Jason

This engagement session should be called - Dakota Steals the Show. Meet Sarah & Jason. I'm photographing their wedding in June. For their engagement session they brought along their puppy, a 100+ pound Newfoundland named Dakota. I'm in love. I laughed through the whole session and continued to laugh while editing the photographs. Hopefully these images will give you the giggles too! 

Downtown Franklin Engagement Session - Meghan & Aaron

Last week on one of the very few warm, sunny days, Meghan, Aaron, Piper and I met in downtown Franklin to photograph their (this includes Piper) engagement session. It was wonderful to finally get to meet Meghan and Aaron (and Piper) before their wedding in June and I cannot wait to photograph their big day!

Romantic Downtown Rainy Engagement Session - Johanna & Alan

Will this Nashville rain ever end? This past Saturday I got to meet Johanna and Alan for the very first time! They were in town for the weekend working with their planner Sara Fried of Fete Nashville on all their wedding logistics. A few months ago, we scheduled an engagement session to take place while they were here and then Saturday the spring monsoon hit. According to the radar the rain was going to let up 15 minutes into their session. It didn't. BUT I am so very, excited about what we got!  Between the cherry blossoms and the wet pavement giving us a romantic background to work with and Johanna and Alan having such great go with the flow attitude, I feel like their photographs turned out magical. I absolutely love them. This session just further proves to me that if a couple has a good attitude about a rainy day, you can still get great images. Sunset Julia Falls Engagement Session - Allison & Andrew

Allison and Andrew decided they wanted to venture outside of Nashville to photograph their engagement session on an overlook. Last week we drove to Signal Mountain, Tennessee and hiked the trail to the Julia Falls Overlook. We endured the cold (I don't know how Allison did it), the wind and the portion of the trail called "the mousetrap" but it was so worth it. The sun was behind the clouds for almost the entire session until the very end when the clouds parted and we got the most incredible sunset over the Tennessee River Gorge. It was perfect. Spring Percy Warner Engagement Session - Katherine & Robel

Meet Katherine and Robel! They are one of my October wedding couples and they are pretty cute. Last Saturday while photographing their engagement session, we enjoyed the sunshine at Percy Warner Park in Nashville, TN. Robel is a surgeon and Katherine is a nurse practitioner so if you were nearby there was a lot of medical humor to be heard. I loved it! Between the laughing and the photo taking, Katherine cooed at the horses, dogs, and babies that were at the park. We finished off their session at their condo in downtown Nashville. Winter Harlinsdale Farm Engagement Session - Gillian & Scott

It was cold and windy. They were both sick. They say fake it 'till you make it, but you can't fake a couple that has so much fun together. Gillian and Scott are just way too adorable with each other. They were so worried that they were going to be awkward in front of the camera, but they were a dream to photograph. Gillian rides horses and because of this we chose Harlinsdale Farm outside of Nashville in Franklin, TN. I hope you enjoy the sneak peek of their Winter Harlinsdale Farm Engagement Session. Rustic Winter Engagement Session - Chelsea & Matt

A few days before Christmas I met Chelsea and Matt for the first time to photograph their engagement session. This extremely busy couple was in town for the holidays. They happened to get in from New York City the day before I left to see my family in the Chicago burbs. We decided that we would take advantage of them being in town before their wedding and we met at Edwin Warner Park. After bonding over The Office and Jim Helpert, I knew we were a good fit.
