A Full-Circle Nashville Newborn Session
I photographed this newborn session in the family's home — Celine and Mike's, to be exact, four years after I photographed their vow renewal and brunch wedding at Henrietta Red, celebrating a private ceremony they'd had overseas the year before. Before that, there was their dog-friendly Nashville engagement session, where their golden retriever, Daisy, crashed the photos and Mike surprised Celine with a second proposal. I photographed their son's newborn session not long after, and now, a couple years later, I was back in their home meeting his little sister.
This is what I love most about this work — watching a family grow across years.
The Same Enthusiastic Welcome, Every Time
Daisy met me at the door like I was the best thing that had happened all week.
Inside, their two-year-old wanted to be photographed just as much as his little sister did. Meanwhile, the actual guest of honor slept through most of it with a full head of hair that had no business being that impressive on a newborn.
In-home newborn sessions are always a little bit chaos and a little bit quiet — a toddler tearing through the living room in one frame, a baby curled up sound asleep in the next. That contrast is the whole story of a family in its first weeks with a new baby, and it's what I'm always trying to catch.
I'm grateful to keep photographing this family as it grows — the wedding, the engagement session, two newborn sessions now. It's the kind of relationship I hope for with every family I photograph.

A few things you might want to know
How long does an in-home newborn session take? Most sessions run about 1.5 hours, with plenty of built-in flexibility for feeding, soothing, or sibling meltdowns.
How far in advance should I book a newborn session? We will put a tentative date on the calendar during pregnancy. Once the baby arrives, you'll reach out to confirm the official date — I like to photograph these sessions 10 to 14 days after birth, which gives you time to settle in and before any newborn acne has a chance to develop.
Can I include my pet in newborn photos? Absolutely. Pets are part of the family, and I build time into the session to include them, whether that's a few intentional shots or just letting them wander through.
