A Farm Full of Family — Anna and Sarah's Extended Family Session

Years ago, I photographed identical twins Anna and Sarah on their separate wedding days — Sarah and Mitchell's and Anna and Josh's — within the same year, which is about as rare a gift as a wedding photographer gets. A bunch of grandkids later, their gift to their mother was a session with the whole family together again on the family farm all the sisters grew up on, and a chance for me to meet the new members who'd joined since.

The whole family, all in one place

I found a shaded spot that still let the open land show behind everyone, then we worked through the full group before breaking into smaller ones: each sibling's immediate family on their own, and the grandparents with just the grandkids.

Those grandparent-and-grandkid photos are the ones I hope for on a day like this, and knowing the whole session was a gift for their mother made them mean even more. As a Nashville family photographer, this is the kind of session I look forward to most — not one small family, but a whole tree of them, together at once.

If your family is growing too, or you're looking for a reason to get everyone together for portraits, I'd love to talk about a Nashville family photography session of your own.
