NASHVILLE CORPORATE EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY AT NOELLE — FACE THE FIGHT'S OPENING NIGHT

Face the Fight brought me back as their Nashville corporate event photographer this year, starting with opening night at Noelle. Last year I was honored to work with Face the Fight while they were in town on World Suicide Prevention Day to take over the Opry for Face the Fight Night. Face the Fight is a coalition of more than 300 organizations working together to dramatically reduce veteran suicide.

When they contacted me to photograph for them again this year, I jumped at the chance. This time they had even larger plans, including a morning program.

WHAT IS FACE THE FIGHT?

Face the Fight brings companies, foundations, nonprofits and veteran-serving organizations together around one goal: fewer veterans lost to suicide. Founding partners USAA, the Humana Foundation and Reach Resilience anchor the coalition, and the number of organizations signed on has grown past 300.

WHY FACE THE FIGHT'S WORK MATTERS

Veterans die by suicide at a higher rate than Americans who never served. Every one of those losses reaches a family, a unit and a community. Face the Fight is united by a shared belief that connection matters and that together, we can make a difference. This year, the theme was Louder Together: Music and the Movement to End Veteran Suicide. Music can put words to experiences that are hard to say out loud and remind someone they aren't alone, which is why Music City was the place to have that conversation.

Two days in Nashville put that belief into practice: veterans, advocates, business leaders, philanthropists, artists and the organizations serving veterans across this city, all in the same place.

If you or someone you love is struggling, call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7. Veterans and military families can press 1 after dialing 988 to reach the Veterans Crisis Line, or text 838255.

OPENING NIGHT COCKTAIL PARTY AT NOELLE IN DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE

Face the Fight Takes Nashville opened at Noelle, which was built in 1929 as the Noel Hotel, spent decades as an office building, and reopened as a hotel in 2017 with its Art Deco terrazzo, brass and pink Tennessee granite still intact. For many of these partners it was the first time together since last year, and for some, the first time they'd met at all. The evening was a cocktail party: a few remarks from board members, then plenty of time for everyone to talk.

PHOTOGRAPHING A NETWORKING EVENT AT NOELLE

Noelle is a darker venue, so flash comes out early there. Coming back for a second year of Nashville corporate event photography with Face the Fight meant I already knew many of the faces in the room, which helps when the moments that matter happen fast. I was there to photograph the events of the evening, but also connection.
