NASHVILLE CORPORATE EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY AT OLE RED — FACE THE FIGHT'S LOUDER TOGETHER
Face the Fight brought me back as their Nashville corporate event photographer for Louder Together: Music and the Movement to End Veteran Suicide, a morning program at Ole Red on September 9, 2026, with Amy Grant and Gary Sinise. It followed opening night at Noelle the evening before.
WHAT IS FACE THE FIGHT?
USAA launched Face the Fight in 2023, with the Humana Foundation and Reach Resilience as founding partners. Today it's a coalition of more than 300 companies, foundations, nonprofits and veteran-serving organizations working together to dramatically reduce veteran suicide, and its grantmaking has funded more than 80 projects across the country.
Veterans die by suicide at about 1.5 times the rate of the general population. Face the Fight is united by a shared belief that connection matters and that together, we can make a difference.
If you or someone you love is struggling, call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7. Veterans and military families can press 1 after dialing 988 to reach the Veterans Crisis Line, or text 838255.
LOUDER TOGETHER: A MORNING PROGRAM AT OLE RED IN NASHVILLE
This year's theme was music, and the idea behind it is simple. A song can put words to something that's hard to say out loud, and it can remind someone they aren't alone. Ole Red was a fitting place to talk about it.
The theme carried off the stage too. Face the Fight's Soundtrack of Your Strength invited guests to write the song that gives them strength on paper records.
PHOTOGRAPHING FIRESIDE CHATS WITH AMY GRANT AND GARY SINISE
The morning opened with Amy Grant in a fireside chat with Richard Casper, founder of CreatiVets, about music and storytelling. Gary Sinise followed in conversation with Humana Foundation CEO Tiffany Benjamin about sustained commitment to veterans and military families. Then a panel called From a Song to a Lifeline: Connection in Practice brought together Raquel Cruz Bono, MD, Priya Gandhi, Sejal West and Ed Magee.
Singer-songwriter Scotty Hasting also shared his story and performed "How Do You Choose," a song he wrote with CreatiVets about the survivor's guilt he carries after losing his best friend in Afghanistan. He brought a lot of people in the room to tears. He's an Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient who taught himself guitar after being shot ten times in combat left him with no feeling in his right hand.
What came through in both conversations was the genuine care and concern Amy Grant and Gary Sinise have for this cause. Amy Grant spoke about the role music can play in bringing people together, then took time to hug guests and sign CDs. Gary Sinise has spent decades supporting service members, veterans and their families, much of it through the Gary Sinise Foundation, and when he wasn't on stage, he was in the audience watching the rest of the program alongside everyone else.
Louder Together was made possible by the Humana Foundation, Opry Entertainment Group, USAA, Starbucks and Reach Resilience, an Endeavors Foundation.
