Nashville Family Photography | Senior Session — Walton Ferry Arboretum
TEN YEARS IN THE MAKING - AMARI’S SENIOR SESSION
Walton Ferry Arboretum · Hendersonville, TN
Some families just become part of your story. Nearly ten years ago, I photographed our first family session together — and somewhere between the laughter, the light, and all the sessions in between, the Schneider family became one of those families for me.
More family sessions followed, then Amari's bat mitzvah at the Bell Tower in Nashville. And now, here we are — senior portraits. I genuinely cannot believe it.
ALL SHE WANTED WAS A FIELD
Beautiful yet unpretentious. Completely her. So we headed out to Walton Ferry Arboretum in Hendersonville — just outside Nashville — and that's exactly what we found. Wide open grass, golden light, and room to breathe.
We started in the field, then made our way down to the lake. The light there was harsh and direct — exactly the kind most people run from — and we leaned right into it. Those frames have an edge to them that I love. Then back to the field for a second outfit, and this is where the session became something really special. Amari brought her Israeli flag for the year ahead, a pennant for her college, and her old school uniform — the same one she held up in our very first session together, back when she had just gotten in. And just like she did when she was little, the skirt ended up on her head. Some things don't change. I hope they never do.
She has always been one of those people who makes the camera love her without even trying. Vibrant, fun, and with this incredible sweetness that comes through in every single frame. She doesn't need much direction. She's just so herself always. Her mom jumped in for a few frames too — one of my favorite people — and those ended up being some of my favorites from the whole day.
After her senior year, Amari is spending a year in Israel before heading off to college. A whole new chapter is just beginning. I love that I got to be here for this one — golden fields, lakeside light, and a young woman who has always known exactly who she is.INTERESTED IN WORKING TOGETHER?
This is exactly why I do what I do as a Nashville family photographer — building relationships over years, watching kids grow up, and being trusted to hold those memories. If you're looking for a photographer who will show up for your family the same way, I would be so honored. Head over to my Nashville family photography page to learn more about working together.
