Nashville Family Photography | Milestone & Maternity Session — Ellington Agricultural

TWO MILESTONES, ONE SUMMER MORNING

I photographed Katherine and Robel's wedding at The Bell Tower in Nashville, and have been asked back for K's newborn and first birthday too. Being asked back for every chapter of a family's life is a privilege that isn't lost on me — and it helps that I genuinely enjoy being around them.

This session was a combined milestone and maternity shoot — K turning two and her little sister on the way. Ellington Agricultural Center is a beautiful spot for outdoor family portraits in Nashville — tree-lined paths, open grounds, and enough variety to move around. We scheduled the morning, which is where most two-year-olds are at their best. Mid-morning summer light has its challenges, but a happy toddler is worth more than perfect light every time.

K has given me so much to work with every time I photograph her. Not only is she adorable with her big cheeks, her curly hair, and her cute sundress — she is so expressive. She has this impish grin that makes me look like a better photographer than I am. The rest of the session took care of itself. This is one of those sessions I still think about.
