In January my little guy turned one. Because our family is high risk, we decided to do an outdoor campfire party with our family in masks. Unfortunately the day ended up being cold and rainy so his party was moved into the garage (door up, without a fire ) and we celebrated that way. My parents like to talk about a huge snow storm that happened when I was a baby. At the same time there was a fire at the power plant and it knocked out everyone’s power. Can you imagine the stories our 2020 babies are going to have? “You were seven weeks old when we stockpiled canned goods in our pantry. We thought this would be over in a month max.” “Your first birthday was in our garage with everyone wearing masks. I was terrified that you were going to trip and hit your head against something in our messy garage.”

Despite the setting, it was a lovely couple hours with family. His cousin and aunt made him a strawberry birthday cake. He was more interested in the strawberries than the cake. We have found that he doesn’t care for sweets very much. He did not get that from me and if he didn’t look like me so much, I would question if he was mine.
